Introduction to Former Big City Girl**

 Dear Small Towne USA*,

Hi, Small Towne USA, I'm Big City Girl. Well, not the biggest city, but a much bigger city than here. Knoxville, Tennessee was where I was raised. I wasn't born there, but I was brought up there. Almost all of my childhood memories practically are from that city.

Here's one of the things about the big city....you don't need the whole city to get everything you need, so at 18 you don't always have a firm grasp on where things are in other parts of your city. Pretty much every business I went to regularly as a child growing up was within the same 10.3 miles between my high school just west of Knoxville to West Town Mall (in what is still considered West Knoxville). Basically it's as far as driving from Madisonville North Hopkins High School to Earlington Elementary School without using the parkway. The only difference is that it generally only takes about 15 minutes to drive from North to Earlington depending on whether you catch every single light going through downtown, and in Knoxville that roughly 10 miles can take 45 minutes.

I love you, Small Towne USA. I miss my family in Knoxville, but I don't miss city life. If I ever want a little city life, I just have my hubby drive me an hour north or south to Evansville and Clarksville. If we feel a little more adventurous we go an hour and a half  west or east to Bowling Green or Paducah (Not a big city, but lots of fun.). My favorite city nearby is Owensboro, and it is only 40 minutes away. We put a lot of miles on our cars in the typical year going back and forth from these various locales. I like being able to visit the big or moderately sized city, and then leave it there.

As much as I visit the cities around me, I have everything I need in Small Towne USA. You might not always love yourself Small Towne USA, but I see you. I love you, and I'm going to focus on one good thing about you and your surrounding county every time I post. You might be surprised by the number of things I find that are loveable. What about you, Small Towne USA? What are your favorite things about yourself?

Love,

Former Big City Girl** aka Christina
